A short article about Maria on the occasion of a one-week vacation in Vancouver in the Fall of 1957. Par for the course for a 1950s newspaper article it mostly concerns itself with her looks but also mentions her role in The King And I and some modeling work she did in the spring of this year for Jacques Grieffe and Jean Patou. This article appeared in various forms through the month of September including in the Vancouver Province (Sept. 4th) and the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix (Sept. 30th).

Tone’s Parade Wins Honors As “Romeo”

The Journal Herald, Dayton, Ohio, USA, March 16th, 1954

by Dorothy Kilgallen

Maria is mentioned briefly in a long gossip column. Apparently one Woolie Donahue’s is calling her at her residence at the Langdon on Fifth Avenue, trying to suggest perhaps that there was more to it, though Maria was still married to her first husband at the time. She is referred to as a model and tobacco heiress. The same article ran under a slightly modified title around this day in a number of other newspapers.
